Monkey World; Ape Rescue Centre - Dorset with Oli & Marguerite

Monkey World; Ape Rescue Centre - Dorset

A special surprise awaited us as we were presented with our adoption photo and certificate of our vey own monkey. We were even more excited to visit Monkey World now as we all hoped to see our furry friends.

With huge smiles on our faces we had arrived at the world famous rescue centre where we didn't hesitate to ask the friendly keepers all of our questions about these endangered animals.

We met lemurs, chimpanzees and orangutan who were happy to show off by swinging, jumping and sliding down the purpose built slides. We did all laugh!

There was so much to learn about and the keepers were a wealth of knowledge telling us about the behaviour and characters about each monkey.

We found our adopted monkeys Lucky and A-Mei who had been smuggled from Borneo for the illegal pet trade.

Pictures with the memorial statue of the late founder Jim Cronin was a must!

We took the ferry to Brownsea Island which is a thriving natural habitat and home to the rare red squirrel and to a huge variety of birds. Its also the birthplace of the Scouting and Guiding movement.

We took the woodland walk which took us past vinery remains, a lily pond a church and view points with the most stunning views.

A trip to the seaside town of Weymouth was a must! It is referred to as 'the bay of Naples' and we could tell why with its golden sands and beautiful coastline.

Tout Quarry Sculpture Park was a great place to explore as we discovered the hidden sculptures within the quarry! Portland Bill was a must see especially to look at the lighthouse that has been standing majestically for the past 114 years.

The little locomotive train was a great way to see the local town.

It was game on as we hit the bowling alley for a few friendly yet competitive games of bowling. There were high scores and even a few strikes! We hit the arcades to spend some of our holiday pennies hoping to win some great prizes.
