The Wonders of the Isle of Wight with Matt & Isobel

The Wonders of the Isle of Wight

There is nothing better than being in the glorious sunshine on the beautiful Isle of Wight.

Our first stop was at the infamous tourist attraction The Needles. The 30m pinnacles from the viewing platform in Alum Bay was tremendous.

We all got creative down in the sand shop, each choosing a glass ornament to fill with the different coloured sand that you can only find here on the island. It was clear to see that we were all pretty pleased with our creations that would make a great memento.

Our next stop was at the glass and sweet factory where we watched the skilled craftsmen creating amazing vases. The skill involved was incredible. The artisan sweet makers were also busy making candy floss flavoured sweets which we were lucky enough to sample!

We soaked up the fresh sea air down at Freshwater Bay where the sea was roaring and the waves were crashing around us. An ice cream was a must.

There were plenty of great activities for us to get involved in. From darts tournaments, some fantastic ping pong rallies to a few close games on the curling mat. It was great to see such great sportsmanship.

The evening entertainment never disappoints here at Warner's. You would always find us on the dance floor, participating in the line dancing class and showing off our cowboy skills with Country Joe.

It was like stepping back in time as we took our seats on the Isle of Wight Stream Railway at Havenstreet. The old locomotive was very impressive and we loved chatting to the station master. Our journey through the countryside was so picturesque.

The museum was really interactive and we got to dress up and wave the green flag pretending to be in charge!

We were thrilled to be able to watch a falconry display where we witnessed displays  from a Tawny Owl, a Harris Hawk and an incredible Peregrine Falcon. They swopped right over our heads, looking for their reward.

It was game on as we hit the bowling alley for a few friendly yet competitive games! There were high scores and strikes all round. Well done to everyone!

We did our best Robin Hood impersonations down at the archery shed. After a few practice goes we were soon hitting the targets, scoring highly.

We were lucky enough spot two hovercraft down at Ryde beach which was exciting as some of us had never seen one before.
