Turkey & Tinsel (Lakeside)

Our days were filled with various activities kicking off with the “Big Fat Quiz 2025” in the Piano Bar. Our team, JollyDays, competed enthusiastically, scoring 15 out of 23 points. We then joined a “Warner Hoedown” line dancing session and a “Swinging 60s” dance class, both challenging but full of laughter, camaraderie, and new friendships.

The afternoon brought an adult-themed panto of Dick Whittington, complete with virtual reality effects and the adorable Puss, followed by the Panto Quiz.

The evening was New Year’s Eve at Warners, and the festive spirit was clear to see. Central Park got everyone dancing and singing, followed by Rock of Stages, a spectacular show covering hits from Queen, Tina Turner, and Bat Out of Hell. The New Year countdown was joyous, with streamers, cheers, and hugs shared, before music and dancing continued late into the night.

Morning activities included games in the Piano Room, and shuffleboard in the Bowls Hall, where the Black Team achieved a high score of 75 points. Emma introduced a new bowls game, and we enjoyed trying badminton and bean bag games as well.

The highlight of the night was Union Gap UK: Supersonic 70s Show, a tribute to the decade’s greatest hits, which had everyone dancing, singing, and reliving the music of the 70s.

Today started with a hearty breakfast and a morning outing to a festive Christmas market, complete with stalls, charity shops, and a dog fancy dress competition judged by the local Mayor. We enjoyed coffee, lunch in a cosy family café, and a photo with Mrs Claus. A trip to the coast provided dramatic waves and fresh sea air before returning to Warners for an evening of music. Dinner was followed by DJ Des Grant and Fleeting Rumours, a Fleetwood Mac tribute, keeping the dancefloor alive with singing and dancing late into the night.

It was time to get festive on the Santa Express train ride along the seafront, complete with mince pies, drinks, chocolate, and gifts from Father Christmas. We visited Derek’s souvenir shop and enjoyed a light lunch at The Ferry Boat pub by a log fire. Back at Warners, a Christmas-themed quiz organized by Emma tested our festive knowledge, and the evening concluded with dinner and music from Saturday Night Bee Gees, whose classic hits had everyone dancing and singing once again.

The onsite swimming pool was a favourite spot for both relaxation and fun. Whether we were enjoying a leisurely swim, splashing about with friends, or simply soaking in the warm water, it was the perfect way to unwind between activities
