New Year's Party (Lakeside)

Our New Year celebrations kicked off with excitement and anticipation as we set off towards Lakeside, ready for four days of laughter, music, and festive fun. The evening’s entertainment began with Ricky Zalez, setting the mood with lively party hits, followed by the resident band, Central Park, whose dancefloor classics had everyone moving and grooving. The Warner Theatre Company then treated us to Rock of Stages, a spectacular musical journey through rock legends such as Queen, Tina Turner, and Meat Loaf. It was the perfect start to our holiday, combining energy, fun, and a touch of rock ‘n’ roll glamour.
The big day dawned with a hearty breakfast and boundless enthusiasm for the day ahead. Morning activities began in the Bowls Hall with Hoopla, where Margaret and Jamie sported reindeer antlers while the rest of us tried to hook rings onto them – much hilarity ensued! Bowls and shuffleboard followed, with Mark, Claire, and Tony showing off their skills in friendly competition. Beanbag toss, Mölkky, and Nintendo Switch Bowling kept the laughter and energy flowing throughout the morning.

After a lively buffet lunch and a swinging Swing and Jazz performance by The Warner Theatre Company, we joined in the Big Fat Quiz of 2025 in the Piano Bar, splitting into teams and testing our wits – even if victory narrowly escaped us! As the evening approached, we donned our glamorous outfits and gathered lakeside for a stunning firework display set to music. The magic continued inside, where our table sparkled with party hats, crackers, and glow-in-the-dark wristbands. The evening entertainment kicked off with a bagpiper, followed by The Warner Theatre Company and a DJ to keep the dance floor buzzing.
The party reached new heights with Boogie Nights, the UK’s top 70s tribute band, delivering funky classics that had everyone dancing and singing. As midnight approached, balloons fell from the ceiling, streamers filled the air, and we linked arms to sing Auld Lang Syne, welcoming the New Year together in the most joyous way. The celebrations rolled on into the early hours, leaving us with tired feet but full hearts.
Happy New Year 2026! The morning began with breakfast and cheerful New Year wishes all around. Some joined a Line Dancing class led by Jay, while others relaxed or tapped along to the music. After a light lunch, we enjoyed the adult pantomime Dick Whittington, full of humour, audience participation, and festive fun. Drinks and Music Bingo followed, adding more laughter to the afternoon.

The evening brought our final dinner, accompanied by James Bond theme music and flowing drinks. The main show, ABBA Magic, had Gillian, Nadia, and Claire dancing like true pop stars, and the rest of us couldn’t help but join in or cheer from the side. The night ended on a high note, leaving everyone buzzing from an unforgettable day and a spectacular start to 2026.
