Norfolk - Boats, Trains & Seaside
It was off to Great Yarmouth beach, where sunshine, sea air, and a group photo by the waves captured the spirit of the trip.

The sun was shining as we headed for our first activity sailing on the Broads. With guidance from Steve and his team, we took to the water, many for the first time, taking turns at the tiller and proudly keeping our course.
After lunch, the fun continued with canoeing, paddling along the waterways amid laughter, friendly races, and wildlife spotting.
It was back to Great Yarmouth to the historic Hippodrome, Britain’s last surviving purpose-built circus building. The circus and water show was nothing short of spectacular—jugglers, fire, strongmen, and the jaw-dropping finale of motorbikes racing inside a steel globe left us speechless. Meeting one of the riders afterward was the perfect finishing touch, followed by classic seaside fish and chips.
Our bowling games were full of friendly competition and plenty of laughs. Split into two teams, we cheered each other on as strikes and spares started to roll in, with Stephen and Sarah both earning big celebrations for their strikes. By the end, Sarah topped her team with 91 points and Stephen claimed victory for his side with an impressive 101, leaving spirits high and smiles all round.
Our day out took us to Bressingham Steam Museum and Gardens, where nostalgia came alive. From the cheerful carousel to vast sheds of vintage locomotives and steamrollers, the museum transported us through Britain’s steam age.

The Dad’s Army exhibition was a particular favourite, with authentic sets and props sparking fond memories. Steam train rides through the gardens delighted everyone, with volunteers sharing stories of restoration and history.
No seaside visit would be complete without an ice cream, and we happily took full advantage.
Our visit to the Sea Life Centre in Great Yarmouth was a lovely way to spend the afternoon. Inside, we explored colourful tanks filled with starfish, giant snails, and the ever-popular penguins, who kept us entertained with their playful antics. The highlight was walking through the underwater tunnel, watching sharks and rays glide overhead, which felt both exciting and surprisingly peaceful. After a quick browse in the gift shop—where a few souvenirs were picked up—we stepped back into the sunshine, agreeing it was a fun and relaxed end to our seaside day.
Sunshine greeted us the following morning as we explored Roy’s of Wroxham, the famous “world’s largest village store,” browsing its many departments and stocking up on souvenirs.
That afternoon, we boarded the Nancy Bee II for a relaxing river cruise. As we glided past impressive riverside homes, manicured gardens, and sculptures, Keith shared local stories and pointed out wildlife—swans, cygnets, and herons—while waves and laughter followed us along the route.
