Christmas Pantomime
It was Pantomime time! ‘Oh no
its not, Oh yes, it is!’. With great seats we followed Mother Gooses desperation
to recover her youthful looks and agrees to let Demon Night have her precious
Goose, Pricilla. Only later does she realise the mistake she has made and
realises friendship and family is more important than looks and fame. There
was much hissing and booing from the audience and plenty of laughs as the Panto
Dame got into all sorts of mishaps.
An afternoon tea treat was enjoyed at Parkers
Tavern. We took our seats in the old fashioned library which was already laid
with teapots and China cups. How posh! Our
festive spread offered a delicious selection of savouries & sweets created
by the talented pastry team. With traditional festive finger sandwiches and
Christmas spiced scones, accompanied by ‘Rudolph the red nose rocher’, double
citrus mince pie, eggnog cheesecake and yule log, we devoured it all!
Excitedly we headed out to a local concert hall
to kick start our holiday. We took our seats ready for a concert by the Prime Brass and a local children’s choir. The
performance was based on the Nutcracker ballet, and we were serenaded by
majestic playing and the children’s choir sang beautifully and they totally
charmed us. The concert finished with audience participation singing festive
Christmas carols.
We headed into the city centre to the
fabulous David Attenborough Museum of Zoology. It was full to the brim
with exhibits displaying animals, birds, insects and reptiles both extinct and
still living. They have skeletons of lots of big animals but the biggest is the
whale that hangs from the ceiling. We all found it really fascinating.
Scottsdale's Garden Centre was a winter wonderland full of magnificent Christmas
displays buying a few last-minute gifts.
We even got the chance to say a quick hello to Santa and we were keen to know if we were on the naughty or nice list!
