Twixmas with Oli & Laura

 Twixmas

Christmas had arrived and it didn't take us long to get into the festive spirit!

Merry Christmas! We woke to presents galore from family and our friends at JollyDays. To our utter delight we got to meet the main man himself and chatted away to him and luckily for us he had just enough time for a photo!

After our active days there was nothing better than relaxing in the warm jacuzzi bubbles!

It was game on down at the pool table as we made our own mini tournament. Everyone certainly improved over the week.

The games continued and we challenged each other to numerous games of Scrabble.

We spent the day exploring the island and visited the tourist hot spot The Needles.

We couldn't resist visiting the RNLI who work so hard to keep us safe at sea.

A heart warming morning was spent at the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary where we had 119 donkeys to see and learn about! We spent time with them, visiting various barns and fields. They all looked so happy and well cared for as we went around stroking them and having our photos taken with them. Our favourite donkey was ‘Colin Senior’ a grumpy old one-eyed donkey which absolutely delighted our very own Colin.

Every evening we were treated to some incredible shows. One of our favourites was the mesmerizing 'Royal Rhapsody' a tribute to the iconic rock band 'Queen'. We all had our air guitars out in full and with smiles on our faces we rocked the night away.

Bell ringing also proved to be a hit with our group and before long we had perfected a well know Christmas carol.

A sumptuous New Years dinner was the perfect way to kick start the celebrations. With smiles on our faces we pulled crackers, donned party hats and enjoyed the fun props. Next was the addressing of the haggis, a Scottish tradition that involves an ancient poem. Then of course the island's famous bagpiper serenaded us for several songs.

We then danced and sang in the New Year with the house band and with the whole entertainments team counting down to midnight. There was party poppers and hugs galore as we sang Auld Lang Syne then began boogying on down to some classics. We ended our night in the early hours, well beyond the lively disco that ushered in the New Year with joyous celebration, in fact, we were the only ones left on the dance floor! We all wished a Happy New Year to some of the staff and other guests who had really become like friends throughout our stay.

The spectacular firework display had us mesmerised by the kaleidoscope of colours in the night sky.

The shooting range was great fun and after a few practise rounds we were all hitting the target.
