Warners (Alvaston Hall) with Duncan, Isobel & Midi

Warners (Alvaston Hall)

Like every good tourist we jumped straight on an open top bus which took us on an hour’s drive round the streets of Chester. Along the way we learned so much about Chester’s occupation by the Romans and about its many beautiful black wooden beamed Tudor buildings.

We then took a river cruiser along the River Dee with an audio description of points of interest along the bank side. It was great to see the city from a different perspective.

There were so many great activities for us to take part in. We really enjoyed curling and tried our best to accumulate points on the target mat.

We were treated to some amazing live shows every night from comedy acts to amazing dance shows. You would always find us dancing away to the in house DJ late into the night.

It was our turn to show off our own talents as we participated in a good old sing song in Pop Choir. The kids from Glee had nothing on us as we belted out Mama Mia and Tom Jones’ Delilah. We even got the chance to go up on stage afterward to experience what it felt like to be a performer. With the lights shining brightly on us we felt like popstars, and we learnt what some of the on-stage equipment is for.

Our inner Robin Hood and Maid Marion came out as we mastered the art of archery. Everyone didn't a great job trying their best to hit the bullseye.

We decided to head back into the beautiful historic Chester to explore its many amazing Tudor buildings and do a spot of shopping. We had a great time together sniffing out any bargains for some souvenirs to take home. Continuing with our explorations, we took in the sights of the ancient Roman fortifications and Coliseum as well as walking along the cities ancient sandstone city wall itself.

A new fame for us to try was a game of Molky- a skittles game from Scandinavia.
