Alton Tower Theme Park with Midi & Netty

Alton Towers Theme Park

We spent the morning visiting The Heights of Abraham. We took a cable car ride to the top of the very high hillside which gave us great views of the Derwent valley. We delved deep into the famous cavern as we listened to a commentary from John the miner as he told us his story recreating the atmosphere, sights and sounds of a working day. It was fascinating.

After our fun packed days we relaxed and unwound in the clubhouse playing pool, air hockey and trying our luck on the games machines.

We all turned our to be thrill seekers as we looped the looped and whizzed around on the adrenaline pumping rides and roller-coasters.

The Atlon Towers theme park really had something for everyone.  Over the two days we managed to cram in as many rides as possible. Some, we managed to go on at least twice! The buzz we got after conquering some of the bigger rides was incredible. The Smiler and Hex, were our favourite rides.

We had a feast of a BBQ cooked by Midi and his helpful sous chefs! It was a such a beautiful, warm evening we all sat around chatting and enjoying each other’s company.

The sun was shining and we had a great time exploring the famous town of Bakewell, home of the infamous Bakewell Tart. After browsing around the shops we simply couldn't wait any longer. We sampled both the tart and the pudding and they really were mouth-watering.

It was obviously beginners luck for Lee, who had never been bowling before. We crowned him our champion after some high scoring, competitive fun.

The Derbyshire police force had an exhibition stand for us to look at when we visited Cromford Mill. We took it in turns to sit in a police car and turned on the flashing the blues and two’s and sirens. This was great fun!

Another first for some, was getting to meet, hold and stroke some cheeky parrots and owls. They were so tame and soft to the touch.

The car fanatics amongst us loved admiring some of the old classic cars on show.

All aboard the Peak Rail steam train ride to Rowsley South. Experiencing the thrill of the preserved railway whilst travelling through the delightful Derbyshire countryside was a first for many of us.
