Canal Boat Leisure Trip
After
watching a safety video and donning our life jackets, we all stepped aboard our
vessel for the day. We
navigated a tunnel, cruising through with the headlights on and several blasts
of the horn!
We cruised slowly down the canal and everyone was keen to have a go at steering. We all mastered this successfully. Aye, Aye captain!
We were in chocolate heaven as we spent the day at Cadbury's World. Our tour started with a 4d film that took us back in time showing us how the factory started. We saw demonstrations of chocolate making and the group had a go at moulding chocolate and also writing our names in chocolate which was great fun!
We visited Ashby canal which is 31 miles long, tranquil, lock free and rich in wildlife. We past many decorative boats on the canal, some making us really laugh.
We walked around the ruins of Coventry cathedral which was bombed in World War 2. We learnt that the
‘Holy Trinity Church’ is the only complete medieval church in Coventry, which
was rebuilt after a fire in 1257.
The boys especially loved visiting the Coventry
transport museum which houses the largest collection of British made road
transport held in public ownership. This huge museum has cars, bicycles and
motorbikes displaying 150 years of unique history.
Some of the group jumped aboard on the vintage bus for a photo!
We hit the bowling alley for some fun yet competitive games of bowling. With some high scores and some skilful strikes we waited in anticipation as to who would be crowned champion.
