 Winter Sun in the Canaries - Lanzarote  What a glorious day we woke up to and we needed little persuasion to relax and unwind on the sun loungers, topping up our tans. The swimming pool was the perfect place to cool off, practise our swimming and best of all join in with the energetic aqua aerobics.  Our hotel was in the perfect position with plenty of shops, bars and local markets for us to explore. Everybody managed to buy gifts and souvenirs and as a reward for our hard work we treated ourselves to a delicious ice cream.  It was an early start eager for an excursion that promised to showcase Lanzarote’s natural wonders. Our first stop was El Golfo’s Green Lagoon, a striking site where vibrant green waters shimmered against a backdrop of black volcanic sand and deep blue seas.   Yorkshire Dales, TV Soap Country  Our soap fanatics kicked of their TV tour in the heart of Goathland, famously known as the setting for the long-running TV show Heartbeat. It wasn't long before we were spotting iconic locations such as Scripps Garage and the Village Stores. We then headed to Goathland Station, which has been featured in numerous films, including Harry Potter and The Railway Children. The station was beautifully preserved, offering a glimpse into life as it was in the 1960s. We couldn't resists buying a few souvenirs in the what was Scripps Garage and it was full to burst with trinkets and mementos.  Our next destination was the Wensleydale Creamery, famous for its traditional cheese-making methods and its role in the Wallace and Gromit films. We were fortunate enough to witness cheese being made and learned about the fascinating evolution of the process over the years.
