The Wonders of the Isle of Wight

The afternoon was packed with activities including dominoes overlooking the sea, archery with Josh’s expert coaching, and games of pool, darts, short mat bowls, and shuffleboard, where Gillian proved particularly difficult to beat. Walks through the gardens revealed vibrant spring flowers, palm trees, and the touching remembrance tree decorated with wooden hearts.

A highlight was a trip to The Needles and Alum Bay. The iconic chalk stacks and sweeping coastal views were spectacular in the sunshine. Some members of the group rode the chairlift down towards the beach, while everyone enjoyed creating colourful sand souvenirs at the Sand Shop. Visits to the sweet factory and glass factory followed, where the group watched sweets being handmade and admired traditional glassblowing demonstrations.
A wonderful afternoon was spent at the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary. Meeting the rescued donkeys, ponies, and mules in their peaceful surroundings was both heartwarming and educational.
We love celebrating a birthday on one of our holidays! Happy 79th Birthday to Alan!
It was game on down at Ryde Superbowl, where there were high scores all round and even a couple of strikes.
It was off to Osborne House, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s magnificent former residence. The beautifully landscaped gardens, scented with rosemary, lavender, and geraniums, were a delight to explore, while inside the house the grand rooms and historical artefacts fascinated everyone.
Every evening we were treated to some fantastic entertainment from Higher Ground and shows. One of our favourites was 'Musicals Now, showcasing song from some of our favourite West End shows such as Grease, Miss Saigon, and Les Misérables.
