France; Coast & Country with Rachel & Toni

France; Coast & Country
We woke to beautiful sunshine and couldn't wait to head out to the lively market in Hardelot. Everyone found a new hat, and we enjoyed browsing the colourful stalls filled with local produce, jewellery and French delicacies before relaxing with drinks in the town square.
The sunshine drew us to the coast, where we enjoyed a leisurely lunch overlooking the beach at Le Grand Café before taking a scenic drive and visiting the beautiful Château d'Hardelot.

We travelled to Boulogne-sur-Mer, enjoying a stroll along the seafront before visiting Nausicaá National Sea Centre. Seeing sharks, colourful fish and other incredible marine life made this one of the highlights of the trip.

Our day began with a visit to our local village before touring a chocolate factory, where we learnt how chocolate is made and sampled a variety of delicious flavours. After a relaxing afternoon at the gîte, we enjoyed a memorable art session with local artist Dominic, who shared his passion for painting and gifted us a signed book of his artwork.

A visit to the Baie de Somme brought another unforgettable experience as we boarded the historic Chemin de Fer de la Baie de Somme steam train. Travelling through beautiful countryside and spotting wildlife along the way was a real highlight, followed by time exploring the charming harbour town of Saint-Valery-sur-Somme.

One of the biggest highlights of the holiday was the International Kite Festival at Berck-sur-Mer. The skies were filled with spectacular giant kites from around the world, creating an unforgettable display of colour and creativity. We spent the day strolling along the promenade, exploring the market, enjoying lunch overlooking the beach and treating ourselves to ice creams while taking in the festival atmosphere.
