Christmas Pantomime
It was a beautiful, crisp winters day and we were ready to explore al that Cambridge has to offer. World-renowned for its prestigious universities, a hub of history, learning,
and innovation for centuries. Its stunning architecture, quaint streets, and
serene canals make it a favourite destination for a JollyDays holiday especially at this festive time of year.
It was off to
the Cinderella pantomime. From the moment the curtains rose, we were
transported into a magical world filled with glittering costumes, enchanting
music, and vibrant characters. Matt Crosby as Buttons brought the house down
with his infectious energy and hilarious one-liners, while Cinderella’s
transformation from a downtrodden student to a dazzling princess left us all
cheering. The evil stepsisters had us laughing at their outrageous antics, and
the Fairy Godmother’s spellbinding scenes were filled with light, colour, and
wonder. One of the most memorable parts of the show was the audience
interaction. We couldn’t help but join in with the classic “Oh no, it isn’t!”
and “Oh yes, it is!” exchanges, making the experience even more engaging.
We stopped at Winter
Wonderland on the large open green named Parker’s Piece. We strolled through
the Christmas stalls, picking up presents for loved ones and even some festive
socks. The trees and twinkling lights added to the magical atmosphere.
Halfway through, we were lucky enough to meet Father Christmas, who took the time to speak with each of us and posed for photos. At the end of the trail, we enjoyed deluxe hot chocolates, complete with whipped cream and chocolate flakes—a perfect treat to warm us up.
It was down to the bowling alley for some more fun. We all had a great time,
with lots of laughs and a bit of healthy competition.
As we wandered round the cobbled streets we spotted The
Harry Potter shops. They were a hit, transporting us into the magical wizarding world
and sparking plenty of excitement among the group. Another lucky find was the delicious looking Fudge Kitchen where the artisan fudge maker was busy at work. We were all allowed to sample some of the scrummy flavours!
