Warners- Alvaston Hall with Darren & Marguerite

Warners- Alvaston Hall

We  all looked forward to a week filled with fun activities and fantastic live evening shows; singing and dancing is one of our favourite things to do!

There are so many brilliant activities for us to participate in and first on the agenda was Indoor Curling. We split into two team reds v blues and it was game on! It was really good fun and quite tricky to start with but we soon got the hang of it.

A wonderful morning was spent at Nantwich Museum, a vibrant community museum which opened in 1980 as an independent charitable trust. It occupies the towns Victorian former library and stands on the site of the old jail. As we wandered around this small museum, we learnt about the early settlement of Nantwich and the importance of salt, as well as the notable industries, events and people that have shaped the towns history.

We visited  St. Marys Church, the town’s most ancient building, often referred to as ‘the cathedral of South Cheshire’. The stained glass windows were magnificent as were the many tapestries lining the walls.

It was time to get a little competitive down at the Tenpin bowling for an afternoon of fun. We had two games full of high scores and a few strikes! At times, it was too close to call the winner!

One of our favourite parts of the day was the evening entertainment . We were treated to some amazing live performance from incredibly talented singers and dancers. One of our favourites was a musical extravaganza, with show stopping performances from all of our most loved West End shows including West Side Story, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Cats and Les Mis.

Time for a little bit of relaxation at the indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. We had the pool to ourselves and loved swimming and splashing about.
We particularly enjoyed the warm jacuzzi bubbles!

Off we went to the ‘pitch and putt’ green to join in with a game of ‘killer’. This was really popular with other holiday guests too, so there were enough people for 3 teams. It was lovely to all play together and meet new people, enjoying the afternoon sun.

We spent a memorable day in Chester and took a sightseeing cruise on the River Dee. We relaxed whilst taking in the views of the stunning riverside homes and gardens and listening to the commentary detailing Chester’s rich Roman, medieval and industrial history. It was a lovely, warm sunny day, just perfect for spending time on the river. With still more to see we jumped on a city sightseeing tour aboard an Open Top Bus. This was a great way to explore the city. We then drove to Nantwich and completed our day with any last minute shopping for any gifts and souvenirs.
