Wales - Castles, Coast and Steam trains with Candy, Netty & Andy

Wales - Castles, Coast & Steam Train
What a holiday we had in beautiful Wales! We made ourselves very comfortable in our superb accommodation in rural Wales. We settled right away and couldn't wait to go and explore.

We went into Kidwelly and visited the park with its beautiful and colourful gardens. The ducks were lucky as we fed them with crumbs! There we also saw the magnificent Kidwelly Castle with its stunning view of the River Gwendraeth and the pretty town of Kidwelly.

Another day we jumped on the Jolly minibus and drove to Manorbier Castle, which is in such a splendid setting overlooking the beautiful beach. We loved exploring the castle and learning all about its history.

There we also sat back and watched an incredible falconry display within the castle grounds. We even got the chance to hold a beautiful Owl whilst we had our picture taken.

Carmarthen town claims to be the oldest in Wales. There we stepped back in time travelling on the Gwili to Dan-y-Coed steam railway. We got aboard “The Welsh Guardsman” and to our delight we were served cream teas with all the trimmings on board our train!

We drove to Cardigan Island Costal Farm Park which is set in a stunning location. There we saw horses, Lamas, Emus and Wallabies. Sadly we did not see any seals or dolphins even though we looked hard.

In the glorious sunshine we took a boat trip along the Milford Haven valley from Neyland. It was so relaxing to be cruising on the water.

We travelled to Pendine Sands, where in 1924 Malcolm Campbell set a new world speed land record!! We took a refreshing walk along the promenade in the sunshine and enjoyed a delicious ice cream.

We had a fabulous time in Wales and our evenings were spent in a number of pubs and restaurants where we were always warmly welcomed.
