The Island of Malta with Derek & Netty



We had a fantastic holiday in beautiful Malta.  We arrived at our lovely hotel which was overlooking St George's bay.  The weather was glorious with bright blue skies on most days.  During our holiday we explored as much as we could, taking in the lovely sights of the marina at Portomaso.  We went to Spinola Bay and had a pleasant stroll in the sunshine.

 

We enjoyed a brilliant open top bus ride around the North side of the island and hopped off at Medina - a beautiful fortified city.  We looked at all of the stunning historical buildings.  On another day, we set off on the local bus to Sliema where we had a boat trip around the three harbours of Valletta - it was very relaxing as we sailed past lovely architecture and magnificent luxury yachts. 

 

We visited the wonderful Barrakka Gardens which is set high up with glorious views over the harbours.  We arrived just in time to watch the firing of the cannon!  We had another boat trip to Marsaxlokk where we bought a few items from the colourful market and ambled along the sea front with ice creams - heavenly!  Our outing to Naxxar was amazing - we went to the Palazzo Parisio and gardens.  Inside the palace it has been restored to it's former glory and was just beautiful. 

 

 

We enjoyed some delightful cuisine whilst away, making sure we tried lots of fresh fish which tasted incredible.  We also had a game of ten pin bowling in the afternoon of a not so sunny day!  A truly excellent holiday enjoyed by all!
