We
enjoyed our journey through some beautiful countryside. Once at Butlins we
unpacked and had dinner in “The Sun & Moon” before enjoying the Redcoats
with their entertainment and we danced into the night.
After
a hearty breakfast we went ten pin bowling and enjoyed the competition. We then
lunched and went for a wander around the site to acquaint ourselves with all
the wonders of Butlins. Killer pool was our next event and then it was time to
get ready for dinner and off to the panto, where we booed & hissed along
with everyone else. Afterwards we went to the ballroom where we saw a “Rolling
Stones” tribute band and danced both to them and some disco music. We were the
last to leave.
We
awoke to a beautiful day and decided to drive to Porlock, through the wonderful
countryside. We saw lambs frolicking in the fields. Once at Porlock, those that
were brave enough paddled in the sea. It was then off to Lynmouth to do a
little shopping for gifts and had fish and chips for lunch. Next was a ride in
the cliff railway to Linton. Travelling back, we stopped for an ice cream while
looking over the bay. In the evening we watched tributes to both Tina Turner
and Tom Jones and then more dancing well into the night.
The
next day we took the land train around Minehead front and harbour areas. We
wandered around the town and bought a few more gifts. In the afternoon we went
into the fairground and had great fun on the rides and stalls. Again, we had a
game of killer pool and then refreshed for dinner in a nice country pub in
Dunster. It was an excellent meal. Back at Butlins we watched a tribute to the
Jacksons and then we went to Reds to see tributes to the Bee Gees. More dancing
and singing along the way.
Our
last day and we journeyed home. Stopping for a good lunch at a nice country pub
we all agreed it had been a fabulous week.
Thanks
to all for making it a splendid time.
John & Pat
