Norfolk Broads with Colin & Faye

We all met up and drove towards Norfolk, stopping on the way at a country pub for lunch, which gave us a chance to get to know each other before heading to The Norfolk Broads. We were staying in a very spacious bungalow right by the water inlet leading to Barton Broad.

The friendly qualified instructors always make us feel welcome and safe on the water. On our first day on the water we went rowing, with everyone joining in. We spent the afternoon sailing, which was a new experience for many of us. Everyone had a go on the tiller steering the vessel.

We visited Wroxham Barns farm in Hoveton where we got to interact with the many animals they had there, feeding and holding them. Especially cute were the baby chicks. We went to Ludham Bridge wherewe met up with Ted, our captain, and boarded the cruiser that we were going to spend the afternoon on exploring Barton Broad. In the evening we went to Yarmouth Stadium where Tom won 3 of the 5 races!

One day we went to Great Yarmouth. We went bowling in the morning - Colin was very pleased with himself as he got a personal best score. In the afternoon we did a bit of shopping before going to the cinema to watch the new Bond film, Skyfall, which we all found very entertaining.

We started our days with a full English breakfast and in the evenings we ate out at traditional country pubs. We had a delicious fish & chips lunch one day. Everyone had a go at steering the cruiser on our last day, which topped off a great week on the broads.
