London Theatre & Sightseeing with Adrian & Wendy

With some of our group coming from northern England we met up just outside London for lunch, where we all got to know each other. We packed a lot into a short holiday and saw many of the great sights of London. Taking advantage of the open-top bus tour we had superb views of many iconic landmarks. Staying at a central London hotel, on our first night we walked to Covent Garden to see the street entertainers and market stalls. We had dinner in a nice Italian restaurant.

We took the bus from outside the hotel to the South Bank and walked to the London Eye, which we were let straight on. With good weather we had fantastic views of London for miles around. After completing our revolution we continued our journey to Tower Bridge where we walked over the iconic Thames crossing. Back on the bus we went to Trafalgar Square where we saw Nelson’s Column, and walked from here to China Town and then on to Leicester Square. Here we had dinner in a traditional pub.

The next day we took the Tube to Green Park from where we walked across the park to Buckingham Palace. Here we had great views of the ‘changing of the guard’. We walked down the Mall to Horse Guards Parade and from there on to Whitehall where we saw Downing Street and the Cenotaph. We continued on to see the Palace of Westminster and ‘Big Ben’. We took a river cruise from Westminster Pier, having lunch on the boat. From the river we had great views of County Hall, HMS Belfast, Tower Bridge, The Shard, The Golden Hinde ship and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. We got back on dry land at the Tower of London, which we then walked around. We had dinner at Bella Italia before going to the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, where we saw Shrek the Musical. It was a fantastic show and very entertaining.
