New Forest Ponies & Coast with Adrian & Jen

After all meeting up we stopped at a nice little village pub for lunch where we all got to know each other before heading on to our country lodges. Nestled on the edge of the New Forest National Park, just a stone’s throw from the coast, it was a great location to explore the local area.

We had a cooked breakfast most mornings and in the evenings we made the most of the camp’s great entertainment, dancing well into the night at the club house. With a singing & dancing show or cabaret followed by a disco it was a very enjoyable retreat each evening.

One day we went to Christchurch to explore the old town. We had a wander around the market, 11th Century priory and the quay. We visited the Dorset Heavy Horse Centre where it was great to see lots of animals. As well as the powerful horses we saw pigs, goats and donkeys. We took a horse & cart ride and also all got to hold rabbits and guinea pigs on our laps and stroked them. Some of us even took a tractor for a drive!

We went to Beaulieu Motor Museum where we saw lots of vehicles of all types on display. With the new Bond film recently released it was fascinating to see 50 years of James Bond cars from the films on show. We took a ride on a vintage bus to the historic house where we had a good look around.

We journeyed to Bournemouth where we went ten-pin bowling, which everyone enjoyed. Afterwards we went for a walk on the beach as it was such a lovely day. We visited the Oceanarium where we saw fish of all shapes and sizes, and even saw sharks and large turtles. We also managed to fit in a game of crazy-golf.
