Christmas Celebrations - Gunton Hall with Andy & Barbara

 Christmas Celebrations- Gunton Hall

He’s been! Our Christmas holiday kicked off as we excitedly opened our Christmas presents from family, friends and JollyDays. We all dressed up in our Christmas finery to have breakfast; with many of us opting for freshly made pancakes with syrup to eat instead of the usual English cooked breakfast.

We couldn't believe it when we actually got to meet Father Christmas in person! We all posed for photographs and enjoyed chatting with him. What a wonderful way to begin our Christmas morning!

We then joined in with a fun musical activity-Christmas Clangers. We were all given a different pitched bell and we had to follow a music sheet, making sure to ring our bell at the correct time. After a few goes, we had performed a recognisable version of Jingle Bells.

Our active group headed down to the sports hall where we had a whale of a time playing carpet bowls. Alan excelled at this. We then hit the table tennis table where Robert showed off his skills before we picked our lucky shuttlecock and enjoyed some exciting rallies on the badminton court.

The fun was non-stop as we made our way outside for the carol concert that was lit by lanterns. There was a wonderful atmosphere as we stood with the other holidaymakers singing the festive songs. The singing was beautiful in the open air and embodied the true spirit of Christmas. We were then treated to a sensational fireworks display, overlooking the lake that glistened as the sky lit up. We all whooped and cheered at the amazing spectacle.

Our Christmas feast was fit for a king and did not dissapoint. The tables were suitably festive with hats and crackers which we couldn’t wait to pull and tell the silly cracker jokes. The three-course lunch was beautifully cooked and plentiful, with all the trimmings. We toasted with a glass of sparkling wine to a special day.

The live shows were fabulous. The amazing Spirit of Christmas Show
dazzled us with their beautiful live singing of classic Christmas tunes. The live music continued all evening, and we danced our socks off, being the last ones standing! We certainly know how to party!

We were so lucky to be surrounded by such beautiful grounds. We loved wandering around, enjoying the well kept gardens and fresh air.

It was off to Great Yarmouth tenpin bowling alley to play a few friendly games. Julie was simply a demon bowler and thrashed us all, finishing with a score of 111 but Christine was only five points behind to take second place.

The excitement grew for the highly anticipated panto! Little Red Riding Hood had us singing, clapping, cheering and booing the whole way through and, of course, Billy married Red Riding Hood at the end, and they all lived happily ever after.

One evening we were treated to an amazingly authentic Elvis impersonator who had us all on our feet, singing and dancing to some classic Elvis hits. You couldn’t keep us off the dance floor as the music was so good! We danced until midnight before singing our way back to our chalets.
