Attractions of Blackpool with Isobel & Darren

Attractions of Blackpool
Our first stop had to be the iconic Blackpool Tower. Here we admired the superb views across the sea and the town and we all bravely walked or lay down on the glass floor where you could see straight down to the street!

The brave amongst us managed to go up to the highest point, where they said the views were even more incredible.

Everyone was so excited to visit Madam Tussauds. We couldn't wait to get up close and personal with our favourite celebrities.  We managed to find our way around the mirrored maze, finishing off with a group photo, all wearing crazy hats and holding the large sticks of rock.

We enjoyed a drink in the Rovers Return with the iconic soap landlords and landlady’s......

and hoped that the judges would give us full marks!

We braved the Bush Tucker Trials and met our favourite double act, Ant and Dec. We couldn't believe how life like they were.

The royal family looked very smart indeed and we all loved trying to do our best 'Royal wave'.

Back to the Tower to watch the spectacular Circus. We were treated to a fantastic performance of a Bollywood-style celebration, carnival show with acrobatics and death-defying stunts.

It was such a nice day so we made the most of it walking along the promenade, enjoying a drink and an ice cream in the sunshine whilst watching the waves lap against the shore.

We found the best place for lunch at the local Motown bar and the owner was so welcoming. She encouraged some of the group to get up on the DJ decks and spin some tunes and we all enjoyed dancing to the fabulous music.

We were all so excited to visit the infamous Tower Ballroom where they film the TV show Strictly Come Dancing. The room itself was so grand and the sound of the organists gave us goose bumps. We sat and watched some incredible dancers glide around the dance floor whilst we sat and enjoyed tea and cake. Soon it was our turn to have a go and it was an experience we won’t forget.

We couldn't not visit the stunning Lake District and we spent the morning on a cruise from Bowness to Lakeside, admiring the beautiful scenery as we sailed along.

We then watched as the steam train pulled into the station and we climbed on board and made our way to Haverthwaite. We had a wander around and looked in the souvenir shop and quaint cafe at the station where we had our lunch.
We explored this pretty town and we came across a shop where they made home-made fudge and we got to sample some of these delicious treats.

Today we went to the Sea Life Centre where we were able to get up close with a variety of species including starfish, mermaids purse and crabs in the rock pool area. One of our favourite parts of the day was walking through the glass ocean tunnel where the large sharks, fish and the huge turtle swam above us.

A lovely walk along the seafront was enjoyed,  popping in and out of the many gift shops. We couldn't resist the T-shirts that you could print your name on. They looked great!
