Norfolk - Boats, Trains & Seaside
We all got kitted out in our sailing gear and boarded the Bass boats – a classic ten man sailing boat. We sailed
across Barton broad - the same place that Lord Nelson had learned to sail as a
boy. We all took a turn to sheet in the sails and also to take the tiller to
steer the boat.
Another day we went on the canoes to explore the river and all the
enchanting little bays and inlets. After a brief lesson on how to use the
canoes, we were off! We saw much wildlife along the way including kingfishers, marsh
harriers and cormorants.
We boarded a steam train at Holt and rode along the beautiful coastline
to Sheringham where we got off and visited the street market and gift shops. We
enjoyed a lovely lunch here before taking the steam train back and heading off to Cromer for the festival that was being held and the streets were full of
entertainment!
We visited Great Yarmouth where we spent a lovely day out. We shopped
for gifts and souvenirs and walked along the promenade. We visited the famous
pier and had a real old fashioned English seaside day out.
Today was a very special day as we were going out on the Nancy B. We planned
to spend the whole day exploring the broads on this magnificent 35ft motor
cruiser. Each person was given the opportunity at the helm of Nancy B and we
awarded with certificates for driving her.
