Lake District Activity Centre With Steve, Michaela & Wendy

   Spectacular Lake District

After getting kitted out we boarded onto two sailing boats for a fantastic day of sailing on the lake. We took turns steering at the helm and controlling the sails.

Today was adventure day. We dressed in harnesses and helmets and all took turns on the inside climbing wall. Everyone's effort and determination paid off and we all reached the top. After all that practising we got all geared up and headed to Barton Ghyll where we began our invigorating and challenging gyhll scramble.

Dressed in caving suits and wellies we walked across the limestone outcrops to the tiny entrance of The Thistle Cave. Turning on our helmet lights we squeezed ourselves into the dark cave. Once our eyes had adjusted we saw impressive rock formations including stalactites and stalagmites. We made our way through the cave, sometimes crouching on our knees in water. A few of us wriggled through the rooftop challenge and even the very narrow wormhole. What an amazing and challenging experience!

Activities included archery, zip wire, sliding down the tube and going on the high indoor swing to our favourite songs, it was great fun and an exhilarating experience.

For our final day the activities was canoeing down the canal where we passed the national "Trail Boat Festival" and saw some fantastically decorated trail boats and in the fields giant kites were flying. In the afternoon we set out for a walk across "The Helm". At the top we were rewarded with spectacular views of the lakeland fells and in the other direction right across to Morecambe Bay.
