Peak District Walks with Steve & Michaela

The Breath-taking Peak District

We had a very enjoyable drive to our destination for the week Darwin forest and checked into our luxury Woodland Lodge.

Once everyone had unpacked we ventured out and had our first walk of the holiday. We went around the woodland paths in the beautiful Darwin forest.

Our walk for the day was a panoramic walk that looked down over the amazing Derwent valley and Matlock with the most outstanding views to the west across Bakewell and the valley of the river Wye. We began at Birchover with a climb to the Cork stone which was an enjoyable experience, it was then a moorland track which took us to the Nine ladies stone circle which was one of the most amazing main attractions.

Another day took us to challenge the heights of Abraham. We walked from Matlock bath through the beautiful woodland pass up to the top where we had the most breathe taking views.

Our ventures took us to Blue John cavern before heading down through a disused quarry to Treak Cliff cavern. We continued down towards Castleton until we reached Peak Caverne where we stopped and took a wonderful guided tour of the Caves and even had a go at rope making which such a fantastic experience.

We visited Chatsworth house and gardens. We had a fantastic morning exploring the beautiful rooms. Whilst we was inside the sun came out just in time for us to have a picnic lunch in the beautiful gardens. We walked through the kitchen gardens and greenhouses and came out into the stunning grounds.
