Canal Boat Leisure Trips with Leo & Jane

 Canal Boat Leisure Trips

The holiday began with cheerful anticipation as everyone gathered for lunch, meeting one another for the first time and quickly falling into easy conversation filled with laughter and shared memories of past JollyDays trips.

Perfect sunshine welcomed the group’s first canal adventure. After breakfast, they boarded their boat, Badger, and set off along tranquil waterways lined with willows, fields, and wildlife. Ducks, swans, cygnets, and swooping swallows accompanied them as they glided beneath bridges, paused for photographs, and enjoyed relaxed conversation.

With steady hands and a confident smile, the boat was expertly steered along the canal, gliding smoothly beneath bridges and past peaceful countryside as if guided by a seasoned skipper. Well done team!

An exciting visit to Twycross Zoo was enjoyed. With picnic bags packed and favourite animals in mind, the group explored lively monkey enclosures, admired powerful rhinos, and quietly observed reptiles in the reptile house. Highlights included meeting a remarkable 130-year-old giant tortoise and watching giraffes stretch their long necks to feed, learning fascinating facts along the way.

The second canal trip on Sunday was just as memorable, despite greyer skies. Aboard Happydayz, the group drifted past waterside homes and gardens, counting bridges, listening to music, and enjoying a picnic on board. A stop at The Drawbridge Inn for hot drinks and the sight of a heron gliding across the canal added to the charm.

Today brought a change of pace with a visit to Cadbury World. Free chocolate bars set the tone as the group learned about the journey of cocoa, watched chocolate being made, and enjoyed an energetic 4D cinema experience that had everyone laughing, especially John

The day continued at the Black Country Living Museum, where a ride on an old-fashioned bus led to exploration of a recreated 1950s high street, shops, cottages, and canal side scenes. It was a fascinating blend of indulgence and history.
