Attractions of Blackpool with Darren & Isobel

 Attractions of Blackpool

We walked down the red carpet like VIP'S striking a pose for the waiting paparazzi as we entered Madame Tussauds for a chance to get up close and personal with our favourite celebrities. We put on our dancing shoes at the set of Strictly Come Dancing and we got the chance to have some photos with the judges and presenters.

We walked over the famous bridge which took us to the jungle and to The I'm A Celebrity set. It was a huge hit as we mimicked the bush tucker trials and of course had a photo shoot with the cheeky chappies themselves, Ant & Dec.

We got up close with some of our favourite sporting hero's past and present.....

.....and met some crime busting superhero's in the Marvel set which was the most popular within the group. Photos with The Hulk, Spider-Man and other characters were a must.

Practising our royal wave, we made our way over to meet Her Majesty the Queen. There was a new wax work model of the Queen that had only arrived a few weeks ago. We couldn’t believe how life like it was! We all managed to get a great picture sitting next to Her Majesty and some of the other royals too.

We managed to get the VIP treatment with our very own secluded area in the bowling centre where it was game on! We split into two teams and this competitive group couldn't wait to get started! We bowled some fantastic shots and ended up with a very close game with some amazing scores.

A dream for some of us was to see the famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom in all its glory. Full of elegance, charm and beauty this ballroom dates back to 1894 and has become more popular in recent years since hosting special episodes of Strictly Come Dancing. We took our seats and watched as the dancers whirled around on the dance floor to the sounds of the Wurlitzer organists. It wasn't long before we joined in, Ronald was eager to teach Isobel the Quickstep. Before long they were making their way around the dance floor, looking like professionals!

A brilliant morning was spent at the SeaLife Centre. Our first stop was exploring the rock pools, where we were able to get up close and gently touch the star fish, mermaids’ purse, hermit crabs and various other small marine life. We then visited the ray fish and the ray breeding pool where the babies stay in their egg cases for up to 12 months. We entered the rainforest section with its unusual variety of sea creatures including poisonous frogs and piranhas. The best experience of the day was entering the ocean glass tunnel. As we slowly walked through, the various amounts of fish and sharks which passed us overhead was such an amazing sight to see. We were also thrilled to have the giant green sea turtle grace us with her presence as she slowly glided over our heads. We sat and watched as the various sharks swam around huge tank whilst we listened to one of the keepers giving a talk on the various species.

We made sure we bought some great gifts, of the cuddlier version to remind us of our visit.

Whenever we visit Blackpool, we make sure we visit the Soul Suite where we received the usual VIP treatment; the staff are always excited to see us and make us feel so welcome. We sat and had our lunch listening to the fantastic music being played and we were soon up on our feet enjoying the wonderful music.

We spent our holiday pennies winning some great prizes in the arcades.

Excitedly we made our way to The Blackpool Tower Circus. We took our seats and waited for the Ring Master to command the floor. As the lights dimmed the crowd started to cheer and we were wowed by the amazing trapeze acts, death defying stunts and skilled jugglers. The clowns Mooky and Mr Boo had everyone laughing with their jokes and comedy capers. It had been an amazing show and we certainly didn’t expect what was about to happen for the grand finale! Before our very eyes the arena floor started filling with water and flowing fountains poured from the side whilst the whole cast danced and sang along to the music. The atmosphere was incredible and was a memorable way to end such an amazing show.

Our trip wouldn't have been competed without a late night drive along the seafront to to see the famous illuminations. With over 6 miles of beautiful light displays it was truly fantastic. We managed to get a glimpse of the tram in all its glory, which travels up and down the sea front.
