London Sightseeing & Theatre with Duncan, Leo & Tracey

 London Sightseeing & Theatre

We're in London and we couldn't  wait to see the sights! A beautiful morning meant it was the perfect day to take a ride on the world famous Coca-Cola London Eye, undoubtably giving us the best views of London possible. Before long, we boarded the ‘capsule’ and marvelled at this spectacular feat of engineering. The views were spectacular and the buildings hugged the banks of the River Thames, which seemed to go on for miles and miles. We got a literal bird’s eye view looking down onto the Thames, Westminster and Buckingham Palace.

We loved walking along the river, looking at all the huge buildings. It really is the best way to see everything London has to offer. Around every corner we saw something new.

A brilliant experience was actually walking over Tower Bridge and seeing the sights from a different perspective. The Tower of London was amazing to see in real life.

The evening we had all been waiting for; a musical treat! Everyone was super excited to be watching The Lion King live on stage. We were shown to our seats and just a few rows back we had a fantastic view of the stage. The lights went down, and the show began. We all got goosebumps as puppet birds flew across the theatre and the most magical elephants, giraffes and wildebeest gracefully walked through the aisles alongside us. We were absolutely blown away by the amazing production of the show, the costumes were outstanding, and the imaginative scenery made us feel like we were in the pride land. After an amazing evening we walked back singing Hakuna Matata all the way back to our hotel.

It was off to visit the Queen! We made it to Buckingham Palace to witness The Changing of the Guard. We heard the band strike up before we even caught sight of them. As the guards marched along in their bright red coats and shiny black boots, we all notice how each and every one looked absolutely immaculate and marched perfectly in time with the next.

Afterwards we made our way back through St James' Park stopping along the way to admire the views of the palace and the wildlife including some huge pelicans!

Down at Horse Guards Parade we once again admired the smart guards and equally elegant horses, which we got to stroke.

At the tourist hotspot, Trafalgar Square we visited Lord Nelson and The Three Lions guarding him. We got some great pictures of us posing by them before taking the huge steps up to The National Gallery and over to Leicester Square.

Souvenir shopping was a must and we stopped to buy some postcards and gifts at a little stall.

We explored the huge M & M's store and Lego shop and we couldn't believe how much merchandise was on sale over the 3 floors! We were in heaven!

There was a great atmosphere as we walked through China Town with the pretty lanterns lighting up he streets.

A brilliant afternoon was spent in Greenwich and at the infamous 02 Arena. We couldn’t wait to board the  Emirates Air Line Cable Cars which gave us more great views of the London skyline. This was another unique experience, and the views were incredible.

We couldn't come to London and not visit Covent Garden and watch the street performers that it is famous for. Fortunately, we had arrived just in time to watch a show, consisting of knife juggling and fire breathing all whilst balancing on top of a series of tubes and boards on top of a table. Our hearts were beating fast as he performed these daredevil tricks. We gave him a huge cheer as he completed his stunts successfully! We then checked out the shops and picked up some bargains at the Jubilee market.

We love celebrating birthdays on one of our holidays and we always try and make the day extra special. Cake is always involved and luckily for us Gary was very happy to share his decadent chocolate cake with us!
