Turkey & Tinsel
Gunton Hall was truly magical as the whole place had been decorated in colourful baubles
and twinkly Christmas lights.
One afternoon we hired a large cabin cruiser and went out exploring the Norfolk
broads. We all took turns in driving the boat and we decided that we all made
great captains! Everyone was awarded certificates to show what a great job they
had done.
It felt so peaceful, cruising down the broads, admiring the beautiful scenery.
After a delicious Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, we headed to the
ballroom and took our seats ready for ‘showtime’. We all sang along to a medley
of Christmas songs performed by the entertainment team. It was then our turn to
hit the dance floor and show off our great disco moves to the marvellous
in-house band.
We
went for a drive around the beautiful Norfolk coastline. We stopped at some
stunning beaches which seemed to go on for miles! Continuing our journey, we
ended up at the historic market of Great Yarmouth. It was was full of handmade crafts and produce. We all bought a
little something to take home with us.
We excitedly took our seats for the pantomime! The Aladdin spectacular
had us in fits of laughter at the pantomime dame and booing at the evil Jaffar.
The dance routines and the glitz and glamour of the costumes left us with
smiles on our faces. At the end of the performance we got to meet the cast!
Everyone loved taking part in the Christmas carol sing song and the Christmas quiz. Before we knew it, the resident band
had fired up the music before the main act took to the stage. Boy George was fantastic,
and he had the whole audience on their feet doing The Conga!
We got into the party spirit by pulling our crackers and putting on our party hats. The evening kicked
off with a pop quiz before we danced the night away to an 80’s tribute act.
Before we knew it, the clock struck 12, midnight.
Balloons fell to the ground and we waved our flags as we wished everyone a ‘Happy New Year’. It had definitely been the most memorable way to end a wonderful week.
