Attractions of Blackpool
Feeling brave, we entered the
dark Blackpool dungeons and were scared by the actors and scary paraphernalia. It was a
great experience, especially when we made it out alive!
We
soon were up close and personal, snapping away with our favourite celebrities at Madame Tussauds. We
spent hours admiring the wax works and couldn’t believe how life like they
were.
We loved meeting the cheeky double act Ant and Dec and seeing if we were brave enough to face the 'I'm a Celebrity' trials.
We met some sporting legends......
and loved becoming the fifth member of The Beatles and also rocking out with Freddie Mercury.
We were all on our best behaviour when we met the Royal Family!
We always love celebrating a birthday at JollyDays....any excuse to eat cake!
We spent an amazing morning at the Sea Life Aquarium. We couldn’t believe the size of it,
tanks full of brightly coloured fish of every size and species. We spent a good
few hours looking around and we especially loved the rock-pool area where we were
able to touch the star fish. They felt just like sandpaper. Walking through the
glass tunnel was such an experience. We felt like we were under the sea as the
sharks and ray swam over us.
A memorable day in Blackpool was had as we
climbed our way to the top of the iconic Tower. The brave amongst us stood on the glass floor where
you could see all the way down to the pavement. Everything looked so small from
this great height! Next on the agenda was to the strictly magical ballroom. The
ballroom was truly a site to behold the whole room was magical from the wood panelling
to the amazing paintings on the ceiling. We sat and listened to the dulcet
sounds of the organist whilst enjoying a sumptuous cream tea lunch. It was then
our time to grace the dance floor and we span and glided around this charming
room.
We drove to the
beautiful county of Cumbria heading to Lake Windermere. Measuring 10 miles long
and 1 mile across, the lake is the longest in the country. Stopping at Bowness
for a drink, we then boarded our beautiful cruise boat. We enjoyed the running
commentary about the history of the lake and also the stunning sites along the
way.
We visited the city of Liverpool and our first stop was at the Albert
Docks. We took the famous ‘Ferry ‘cross
the Mersey’. The ferries have been running since 1396 and is the longest
running ferry. The Mersey was described as 'the gateway to the British empire
and the door to the world' for its port’s importance.
We admired the Liverpool rock art formation, that is brightly coloured and seems to defy gravity and had our photo taken with The Beatles statue.
As the sun started to set, Liverpool came alive with beautiful Christmas decorations. We visited Liverpool’s Cathedral which is the largest Cathedral in England and this looked equally stunning as it lit up the night sky. We learnt that the Cathedral has the biggest
pipe organ in the UK with 10,274 pipes and the highest gothic arches in the
world. The Cathedral was totally amazing, and we were just blown away by its grandeur.
