Yorkshire Dales, TV Soap Country
We had a wonderful trip on board the old steam train as we travelled through beautiful rolling countryside towards Goathland, also know as Aidensfield where the infamous TV soap Heartbeat is filmed. We loved visiting all the iconic places including Gina's cafe and Scripp's garage.
A visit to the Wensleydale cheese factory for a lesson on how cheese and butter are made. We also got to meet the cheese loving characters themselves, Wallace and Gromit! Our favourite part of the trip was getting to taste the delicious varieties of cheese.
Another wonderful day was spent exploring the villages where Emmerdale and Last of the Summer Wine is filmed. We had great fun pretending to be the landlord and landlady of The Woolpack pub. Lunch was enjoyed at Sid's Cafe where we were joined by a life size cardboard cut out of Nora Batty. Lots of souvenirs were bought in the gift shop to remind us of our great day out.
The sun shone as we made our way up the very steep Sutton Bank. There wasn't a cloud in the sky which gave us the most incredible views over the Yorkshire Dale's. We found a perfect spot to enjoy our picnic lunch.
Everyone loved looking around the refurbished Textile Mill admiring the huge classic car collection they have on display.
