New Forest & Hampshire County Show
On our first day we
went for a cliff top walk and explored the beautiful countryside. We were
amazed that we could see the Needles on the Isle of Wight in the distance!
At the
National Motor Museum we had a ride on an old open top bus, went on a monorail
and enjoyed looking around the museum. We saw hundreds of cars from when they
were first invented to some amazing modern day ones.
Our
first day at the New Forest and Hampshire County Show. So much to do and see as
we walked in and out the huge tents with lots of interesting stalls for us to
admire. The different breeds of animals were astonishing. At the
main ring we enjoyed watching the animals parading. The heavy horses were
huge!
Day
two of the show! We saw more animals, including the judging of the best sheep
competition. We watched show jumping, a hunt parade; a horse relay race and the
horse stunt show again as we had enjoyed it so much the previous day. Everyone was happy wandering round taking in the incredible atmosphere
We
visited a museum in Buckler’s Hard, an 18th century
shipbuilding village. We went inside a cottage from the 18th century, an old
chapel where we saw a smugglers cellar and had a drink in an old fashioned pub.
We then went on a boat trip along the river. After this we looked around the maritime museum. We learnt so much about how
ships were built for Nelson’s Navy and which ships actually took part in the
Battle of Trafalgar.
In the evening we
put on our dancing shoes and danced to the fantastic live music at
the show bar.
