The Wonders of the Isle of Wight - with Steve, Michaela and Netty

The Wonders of the Isle of Wight

After arriving in the Isle of Wight, we got ourselves freshened up for our evening meal. We went to the Mariners Ballroom for the evening's entertainment - some bingo followed by an evening of cabaret - we all had great fun dancing!

We woke to glorious sunshine and hit the road across the island to a beautiful historical monastery called Quarr Abbey.

We spent an afternoon at the wonderful Model Village at Godshill. Everyone enjoyed walking around the miniature buildings and looking at the beautiful surroundings.

We travelled in the Jolly bus to Cowes where we boarded our transport for the day - a beautiful cruiser! The cruiser took us around the port of Cowes and then along the Solent and across to Portsmouth. We sailed around Portsmouth Harbour and viewed the historic naval base!

Another evening was spent dancing and singing the night away to wonderful music!

There was much excitement this morning as we headed to Alum Bay to view The Needles. What a beautiful sight that was!

We spent some time one afternoon visiting a sweet factory and we bought some delicious fudge! Some of the group made sand sculptures and watched the glass blowing at the glass factory.

We went to the Garlic Farm where we enjoyed some lunch followed by a visit to the Donkey Sanctuary. We got to pet the lovely, friendly donkeys! That evening we enjoyed some more dancing in the Mariners Ballroom to a swing music tribute!
