Center Parks Resort (Elvedon) with Midi & Isobel

Image
Center Parcs (Elvedon) We headed to the adventure golf course for a fun morning. This tricky pirate themed course was certainly going to be a challenge. There was lots of laughter as we made our way around and to our surprise Mikey and Gayle managed to get a hole in one. We all cheered with delight.  Helmets on and we were soon off cycling around the different areas of the forest lined paths spotting wildlife along the way.  We were very impressed with how well everyone did and how much we had all improved.  It was game on as our competitive pool competition got underway. Everyone showed great sportsmanship. Next was a nail biting game of bowling where there were high scores and a few strikes. An ice cream in the sun was thoroughly deserved.  It was a lovely sunny day, perfect for our day on the water.  We put on our life jackets, climbed on board and set sail around the lake. Everyone took it in turns to be captain and we all did...

The Wonders of the Isle of Wight with Darren, Duncan, Judy & Åse

The Wonders of the Isle of Wight  The sun was out as we headed to Alum Bay to see the Isle of Wight’s most famous landmark The Needles. We walked up the viewing platform which offers the best of the cliffs and the chalky Needles themselves.  Next, we made our way to the sand shop where we learnt all about the famous-coloured sands of Alum Bay. Then, we all got creative and chose our own glass ornament and filled it with the sand just like Queen Victoria did back in her days on the island. We all agreed they would make a great memento of our time spent here.      W e rounded off our visit with a trip to the Glass Factory where we were able to watch four master craftsmen hand make some beautiful glass ornaments, ready to be sold in the shop. One of them were kind enough to tell us all about how each piece is made and about the different processes they go through. We then checked out the shop where we were able to buy our own pieces of handmade Alum Bay glas...

Yorkshire Dales, TV Soap Country  Our group of soap fans were so excited when we visited the real Woolpack Pub. The landlady made us feel so welcome and let us pretend to pull a pint!  We visited the set locations of Emmerdale, seeing all the iconic filming locations.  We then took a fabulous drive through some beautiful countryside to Holmfirth for our Last of the Summer Wine tour. Our first stop was at Sid’s café where we had a cup of tea with a life size cardboard cut-out of Nora Batty. Next, we were introduced to Colin, our tour guide and bus driver who took us in his old fashioned bus through the village, pointing out some of the characters homes. We then explored the museum which was full to burst with pictures, props and information all about the soap. We then climbed aboard the tour bus and were taken on a fabulous ride through some stunning countryside. Our guide was full of knowledge and pointed out many a famous sight that we recognised from th...
