The Wonders of the Isle of Wight with Russell & Brigitte

The Wonders of the Isle of Wight

The sun was shinning as we visited the infamous tourist attraction The Needles. The views were  spectacular.

We visited the Sand Shop where we got to choose a glass ornament and fill it with the different coloured sand that can only be found on the island. We were very pleased with our creations and agreed they would make great mementos.

Next stop was at the Glass Factory where we watched the skilled craftsmen at work creating some incredible glassware and vases. The sweet shop also fascinated us with all the work that goes into making these tasty treats... and luckily for us we all got to sample some!

An ice cream treat is always welcomed, especially when we are on holiday!

It was game on as we tackled the crazy golf course. Everyone had brought their 'A' game as there we some great shots all round with a few even getting a whole in one!

After our fun filled days out we loved hitting the games room enjoying a game of darts and pool tournaments. It was great to see great sportsmanship.

A wonderful afternoon was spent at the Donkey Sanctuary. On arrival we were given some pony nuts (the donkeys’ favourite treat) and were taken us to Poppy Paddock where Coco lived with the other male donkeys. She told us that Coco arrived at the sanctuary in 2017 from Petersfield and that at first, he was a little shy but soon made donkey friends. They all came to say hello and as well as Coco, we got to meet his friends: Trevor, Frankie, Major, Colin, Barnaby, Thomas and Archie.

We were excited about our trip to Osborne House, a former royal residence. The house was built between 1845 and 1951 for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert as a summer home and rural retreat. We were in awe of the beautiful ornate rooms, as we walked through Queen Victoria’s sitting room, her dressing room, bed chamber and the nursery where they raised their nine children. The state rooms where the Queen entertained prince’s, princesses and heads of state were magnificent. We took a stroll through the stunning gardens admiring all the colourful flowers.
