Butlins, Fun & Dancing
The RedCoats always give us a warm welcome! They love to stop and chat to us all about our holiday.
We couldn't resist a photo with Billy the Butlins Bear!
It was always fun down at the fair! From flying high in the sky on the swing chairs. Bumping and crashing into each other on the bumper cars and whizzing down the helta skelta.
With our holiday pennies ready we headed to the amusement arcades where we tried out luck on the great games and arcades. We were all lucky winners and collected tickets that we exchanged for prizes.
Our creative side came out as we headed to the art room where we all got to choose a piece of pottery to paint with brightly coloured paints. Everyone was super impressed with our masterpieces and agreed they would make great mementos.
We took a short walk to the seafront where we caught a
little train along the prom from Butlins to Bognor. We trundled along the
promenade and as the sun began to shine, we all took in the sea air and views.
Arriving at the pier we explored the beach, skimming stones and listening to
the crashing waves.
A fabulous morning was spent at Weald and
Downland Living Museum. This 40-acreopen air museum is home to over 50
historic buildings dating from 950AD to the 19th century, along with gardens,
farm animals, walks and a mill pond. We explored
the site using the map, looking inside all of the beautifully preserved and
reconstructed buildings from throughout history. It gave us a great insight
into rural life in the area, especially seeing the blacksmiths, millers,
farmers and much more, all working using traditional methods to demonstrate how
society worked in ancient times. One other thing the site is famous for is
being the home of the popular T.V show ‘The Repair Shop’. We walked down to the
famous barns and outbuildings featured in the show and to our delight they were
in the process of filming their Christmas special. We watched in awe as Jay
Blades and other characters entered the festive scene to be filmed.
