Butlins, Fun & Dancing (Skegness) with Duncan & Isobel

 Butlins, Fun & Dancing

Billy the Butlins Bear was just about as excited to meet us as we were him! We love all the fun thing that Butlins has to offer.

Talking of fun, we headed to the fun fair in search of some thrills and spills. We had a fabulous time riding the carousel and whizzing around on the waltzers and bumping and crashing into each other on the bumper cars.

We were given the VIP treatment and shown to our ring side seats in the Big Top to see the world famous Harlem Globe Trotters which was super exciting. The atmosphere in the tent was electric and the audience couldn’t wait for show to start. The basketball superstars were so cool, showing off their amazing tricks and athleticism. We watched in awe as they slammed dunked the balls into the net!

It doesn't get much more exciting than this! We went to the massive new live music venue Studio 36 where the show kicked off with Britain's Got Talent winners Twist & Pulse who wowed us with their wicked dance moves and routines. The excitement then grew, and we could feel our hearts starting to beat a little quicker as it was now time for the star act. X Factor runner up and multitalented Fleur East rocked the house down! Her voice was out of this world, and she certainly knew how to get the party started! We managed to get all the way to the front of the stage, and we partied and danced along with the rest of the audience.

lovely morning was spent at The Seal Sanctuary to admire the  super cute baby seals. We learnt that the sanctuary looks after poorly seal pups and nurses them back to health. It was amazing to see all their hard work in action. We also got to meet many of the other animals onsite including the meercats, alpacas and the very greedy goats, which we got to feed.

The friendly Redcoats were always ready to hit the dance floor and dance the night away with us.

The live evening entertainment was always something that we looked forward to. Strictly Latino was one of our favourites! As the lights dimmed, the rhythm of the music started blasting out of the speakers and we were wowed by the sultry vocals and electrifying dance routines. We clapped along to the lively show and sung at the tops of our voices.

We made our way to Hot Shots for a game of ten pin bowling. It was a nail biting competition with some amazingly high scores. Alan, however was crowned champion with a very impressive score of 121 points!

This year’s big pantomime was The Little Mermaid. We absolutely loved it with all of the amazing songs, costumes and dance routines, topped off with lots of funny moments, this show really had it all.

We got up close and personal with all the creepy crawlies down at the Discovery Centre. There were so many weird and wonderful species for us to admire......from a far!

Warners- Alvaston Hall with Midi & Netty

 Warners- Alvaston Hall

We couldn't wait to explore the acres of award-winning gardens at Alvaston Hall.

A great day was spent in the wonderful city of Liverpool, stopping first for a drink by the Albert Docks and its many impressive boats and dockyards. We took photos under the 10-meter-tall rainbow coloured Liverpool Mountain. Next, we made our way to the Liverpool Museum an amazing place to visit where we learnt so much about Liverpool and its history.

Everyone had been looking forward to taking the the ferry across the Mersey. The Mersey is described as 'the gateway to the British Empire and the door to the world' for its port’s importance. We finished off the afternoon looking around several of the large souvenir shops in the Albert Dock, where we all bought some wonderful memorabilia to take back home.

The evening performances never disappointed. They were filled with polished dance routines and amazing vocals. We sang along at the tops of our voices to all our favourite songs.

A lovely morning was had as we walked along the River Dee to board our riverboat cruise. As we sailed along the calm water, we took in the fantastic sights and scenery around us, waving to the other boats as we passed.

We then took a trip on the open top sightseeing bus. We learnt so much about this famous Roman city, from the racecourse the Roodie being the oldest in the country and also Chester being the oldest city in the country. We took in many, many sights and were fascinated by the all the old Romans and Tudor houses.

You would always find us on the dance floor, showing off our disco moves, late into the night! We just love dancing!

A relaxing stroll
around Overwater Marina was on the agenda. There were plenty of beautiful, vibrant  boats for us to admire. We stopped at a little café for a drink and a spot of lunch situated on the canal bank. We then drove into Nantwich, the local town which is known as the flower town as it has the most beautiful flowers and blooms everywhere you looked. We explored the tiny streets and stopped off for a drink before browsing the many shops, spending our holiday pennies on souvenirs to take home.
