Exmoor Activity Centre
All kitted up we took to the waters where we couldn't wait to make a splash. We navigated our way around and played some fun games……… being careful not to fall
in!
Our first test
of the week was crate stacking. We had to stand on two crates and gradually add
more crates to the pile whilst balancing on top of them. It was great fun, all
though very wobbly but we worked well as a team! We all managed to get to 9
crates high which was amazing and very high when you looked down!
We put on our harness and safety rope and made our way to the climbing wall. We
really tested ourselves by climbing the different steep walls and navigating
our way up them. We felt a real sense of achievement once we had reached the
top.
Off
into the woods we went, where we spent a
great afternoon learning how to light fires with just flint and steel. With
time and patience everyone managed to do this. Lots of fun was had challenging
our inner Bear Grylls.
The beach was truly stunning at Braunton Staunton. As we walked
down the beach path we could see beautiful, sandy beaches stretched out for
miles. There were plenty of surfers riding the waves, too.
We went to the stables and got kitted out for our horse riding afternoon. We
all took turns at walking, trotting, stopping and turning. We soon felt relaxed
and confident on our horses as we gave them commands. Everyone loved being able
to ride out, around the Calvert grounds. Back at the stables it was time to
take off their tack and give them a brush down.
We also got to take Pilgrim, a 30” miniature Shetland pony for a walk. He was such a cutie and we all loved him.
Off to conquer some more heights at the abseiling wall. We kitted
ourselves out for an exciting morning of abseiling down the cliff face. We
faced our fears and to our surprise we all were naturals! So good, in fact we
were allowed to go down the really steep cliff!
Feeling super fit and active we rode x-trail 3 wheeled carts and
thoroughly rose to the challenge of the winding track with its hair pin bends
through the woods and around the lake.
