The Wonders of the Isle of Wight
We
sang and danced to the Soul and Motown singer who sang all familiar songs by
Barry White, Drifters, Commodores and many more. We all enjoyed a sing a long
and with some great dancing. Our evenings finished with some more disco dancing
to the resident band.
we headed to The Needles. For some of the group this was the first time they had seen this famous landmark and were eager to take photos. We spent time making the sand ornaments with all the different coloured sands. With a choice of rabbits, cats and a bell as a design these made beautiful gifts to take home.
watched the glass blowers create a lovely vase and then visited the sweet factory and watched how sweets are made and then sold in the sweet shop. We were lucky to sample these delicious sweets and we treated ourselves to some to take home. Our next visit was to the souvenir shop where a few more treats and souvenirs were purchased.
After a leisurely stroll along the seafront, we couldn't resist an ice cream before making our way back to Warner’s.
We took a boat trip from West Cowes to Portsmouth. A gloriously sunny day
perfect for our day out. The Captain pointed out some of the landmarks on our
way including Osborne House, Gun Wharf Keys and the Emirates Spinnaker Tower.
We also got to see the new Aircraft Carrier Queen Elisabeth. This huge
ship boasts a crew of nearly 700 and over 200 Royal Marines. We were all able
to see various other ships including HMS Bristol and HMS Defender.
