Painting & Drawing In France
We
went to Saint-Valery-sur-Somme for the steam train ride around the bay. This was a pleasant journey with smashing
views and the traditional smell of the steam engine. We had a chance to take some photos and to
visit the museum at Cretoy.
At the ten-pin bowling alley we impressed the locals with our international bowling
skills! We had a great time!
We visited the village chocolate
factory, making hand-made chocolates and we watched the chocolate flow into many
different shapes – animals, plants and buildings! Their shop gave us a chance to buy some gifts
and they even gave us a taste of their fresh chocolate – yummm!
Our instructor Dominic was very welcoming and helpful, arranging
a floral display and helping us to prepare and paint our own canvas of the
flowers in the studio. This was
challenging and fun as we mixed our paints and the pictures emerged.
Our second class was to paint our own wolf from one of Dominic picture – and we helped each other mix the paints and follow the shapes of the animal, an enjoyable afternoon practising our painting skills and producing colourful images to keep.
In Boulogne we visited the famous ‘Nausicaa’, the sea-life centre internationally known for research and saving the sea environment. There were so many fish to see from above and below, we could watch the sharks being fed and try to talk to the penguins, all with colourful information to help us.
Another fantastic holiday in sunny France!
