Norfolk - Boats, Trains & Seaside with John & Netty

Norfolk - Boats, Trains & Seaside

We were all excited to get on board our cruiser. It was a wonderful day on the water – along the way we stopped at a few places to have a stroll around and visit the shops. We had our picnic lunch on board our cruiser and celebrated Peter's birthday! Everyone was able to steer the cruiser and were awarded with a certificate of achievement for their efforts.

We sailed around the Norfolk Broads. With the sun shining down on us, we made our way along the Broads taking in all the beautiful sights and wildlife along the way. We saw a pair of swans with nine cygnets in-tow, such a special sighting!

On another sunny day some of us wemt canoeing while others went on the motor cruiser. We all agreed it was so much fun!

We boarded a steam train which took us through the stunning countryside onto Holt. Holt station has a very impressive model railway and railway museum which we spent some time looking around.

We visited an animal farm, restaurant and craft studios – we got the opportunity to feed the goats, chickens and horses. We were even able to hold 2-day old baby chicks, guinea pigs and rabbits. Bottle feeding the baby cows was wonderful!

Yorkshire Dales, TV Soap Country with Steve & Michaela

  Yorkshire Dales, TV Soap Country

We visited the little village where they used to film Emmerdale. We visited the famous Woolpack pub and wandered the streets nearby - where so many of our favourite characters had wandered before us!

It was then off to Leeds and the ITV studios to see where the filming took place. We bought more souvenirs in the studio gift shop and had our photos taken.

In Skipton we boarded a narrow boat on the canal and went on a trip back in time along the Leeds and Liverpool canal. We passed many old mills and factories as we went gliding across the water through the Yorkshire countryside.

We went to an agricultural show and spent the rest of the day enjoying the attractions on offer including the cattle and sheep shows, the sheep dog trials, meeting many Yorkshire farmers and their animals, as well as visiting the funfair and various stalls.

In Goathland (Aidensfield in the series), we walked through the village paying a visit to Scripps Garage as well as the other little village shops. The highlight of the day was taking a restored steam engine train ride from Goathland station to Whitby. We were pulled along through the beautiful Yorkshire countryside by this wonderful steam train.

Another day we drove north through Wensleydale where we visited the famous Wensleydale cheese factory - sampling many different delicious cheeses.

On board the Jolly bus we headed over to the Last of the Summer Wine country. We stopped outside the famous Sid’s Cafe in Holmfirth before taking a guided bus tour in an old-fashioned bus. Our driver, Collin, took us to all the famous spots that were used for the filming of the show.
