Norfolk - Boats, Trains & Seaside with Steve & Michaela

Norfolk - Boats, Trains & Seaside

We had sailing lessons and all learned really quick how to tack and jibe. We stopped for a picnic lunch before heading out onto Barton Broad, which is where Lord Nelson learnt to sail as a boy. It was wonderful to glide through the water in the beautiful sunshine.

In Wroxham we started our exciting canoe journey. We spent the whole day on the water where we paddled effortlessly with the flow of the river. The wildlife was amazing, we saw fish in the crystal clear water and birds including Grebes, Kingfishers and Canada Geese.

We boarded the Nancy Bee, a 38ft cruiser, and sailed to Horning, the home of the steam ferry. We spent the all day cruising along the Broads and we all took a turn at driving the boat. At the end of the day we were all awarded with a certificates for driving the boat.

In the town of Holt we took a steam train ride along the coast to Sheringham. We had a great time doing some shopping and sight-seeing along the beautiful coastline.

Our next destination was Cromer where we toured the famous coastal town and then visited the Shire horse sanctuary. We had a wonderful time visiting the farming bygones museum  and all loved petting the animals.

We had a fantastic afternoon at Hollywood Bowl, where we enjoyed a friendly competition.

Austria, Sound of Music Tour with Derek, Jon & Isobel

  Austria, Sound of Music Tour

Our Sound of Music Tour was  amazing!  It was incredible to visit the locations where the film was shot all those years ago. We visited the famous gazebo where Liesl sings "16 going on 17" and of course the enchanted gardens that lead us toward the beautiful abbey.

The highlights or our tour was visiting the church where Maria & the Baron got married. It is such an impressive and beautiful church.

We took an exciting ride on the cable to the top of the mountain. The views all around us were breathtaking. Once at the top we looked across the mountain ranges and spotted many more mountains. We had a nice lunch in the restaurant as we marvelled at the scenery all around. We watched paragliders in the sky, soaring like birds!

We visited Krimml where we took pictures with the impressive waterfall, the biggest in Europe! we all marvelled at the power, noise & the spray coming from the water as it dropped from so high up. As it was sunny the spray and sun together gave us a rainbow!

In Bad Gastein we took pictures by another thunderous waterfall and wandered around some delightful little shops.

At Zell am See we took an exciting boat trip on the lake. Once arrived at destination we enjoy wandering around the market and found some great gifts and souvenirs. We then got back aboard the ferry and crossed back over the lake.

Our evenings were spent in lovely typical restaurants where we ate tasty local cuisine. We also went to the local harvest festival where we listened to traditional music and watched the young
Austrian boys give a cracking demonstration.

The Wonders of the Isle of Wight with Phil, Andy & Wendy

The Wonders of the Isle of Wight

We enjoyed visiting The Needles, where we had fun filling sand ornaments with multi coloured sands. We also watched a demonstration of glass blowing at the Alum Bay Glass Factory.

Our evening were packed full of amazing entertainment from funny comedian, line-dancing classes and outstanding shows. We especially enjoyed the entertainment team who were always up for a boogie on the dance floor with us.

The Model Village was a big success! Everyone loved walking around in the beautiful sunshine and enjoyed looking at the miniature houses, crafted trees and shrubs.

At the Donkey Sanctuary we all enjoyed stroking the donkeys soft fur. It was lovely to see them being so well looked after.

We discovered the Shipwreck Centre & Maritime Museum in Arreton. We were fascinated by the finds of dives around the coast of the Isle of Wight and other locations. At the museum we looked at treasure from the deep, Spanish gold and silver, antique diving equipments, ship models and a multitude of other intriguing relics from the past.

We had super games of ten pin bowling and pool, which was great fun! Everyone achieved smashing scores!
