Norfolk Broads & Seaside with Derek, Faye & Melanie

Excitedly we all met up and made our way to Norfolk, stopping for a lovely lunch at beautiful farm café. We then made our journey onwards and arrived at our lovely accommodation which was right on the Norfolk Broads.  We made ourselves comfortable, unpacked our cases and headed out into the pretty town of Wroxham for a Fish and Chip dinner.

During our week away we enjoyed two fabulous river cruises aboard 'The Nancy Bee', a delightful boat that took us out onto the broads.  The scenery was truly stunning and we saw lots of local wildlife and many different varieties of plants.  We even got to drive the boat ourselves!  On one of our trips on the cruiser, we enjoyed birthday cake as it was Roger and Jane's birthday! We all sang and gave them their presents.

On another day we took a wonderful steam train ride from Holt to Sheringham, a fabulous seaside town.  We rode past some stunning scenery and had lunch aboard the train!  It was carnival day in Sheringham so it was buzzing and vibrant and very exciting to be a part of.  There was live music which we stopped and danced to.  On the way home that day, we drove to the Heavy Horse Sanctuary and stroked all of the beautiful horses. We were lucky enough to watch the horses and foals parade past us into their fields.

On another glorious morning we went canoeing on the broads. It was so exciting zipping ourselves into our life jackets and entering our little boats!  Some of us were able to use the paddles to push ourselves along.  It was very calm and relaxing on the water and we passed many beautiful houses and boats.  Later that afternoon we took a leisurely walk along a boardwalk which went right through an enchanting woodland.  It bought us right out onto the broads.  Along the way there were plaques with information about the woodland and what we might expect to see as we went by.

As well as visiting some truly lovely pubs, one evening we went into Great Yarmouth and watched an incredible circus.  We saw trapeze artists, jugglers, clowns, comedians, dancers and gymnasts!  At the end, the whole floor filled with water and we watched some synchronized swimming. It was an absolute spectacle and we all loved it!

One morning we decided to visit Caister Castle and Car Museum.  There was an impressive selection of cars and we ambled around leisurely.  We then had a look at the old castle ruins.  In the evening we went for a fantastic game of bowling.  Lots of strikes were scored and everybody was happy with their score!

As always home time had come too soon. We packed our things and headed for home, stopping at the very pretty town of Ely and having a delicious lunch at some delightful tea rooms on the waterfront.  We all chatted about what we had enjoyed about the holiday.
