Spanish Coast & PortAventura - April 2011 with Derek, Pat & Wendy

Fun in the sun!

We had two very good flights and everyone seemed to enjoy the whole experience of flying. Congratulations go to Beckie, our first time flyer!

Our hotel was very central Salou, so we were close to all the shops, bars & restaurants and the fabulous beach and promenade. It was very Spanish with good food and great entertainment in the evenings. We all enjoyed the live music and danced the night away every night of our stay!

There were two pools, one on the roof with a spa. The main pool even had an assisted entry via a chair (operated by the lifeguard). This suited Trevor, who really had a splashing time! It was nice to have a dip after our days out.

Our first day was spent in the theme park, PortAventura. It was the only day with any rain, but we managed to dodge any of the light showers. It was a very nice day never the less, and we all enjoyed the rides.

The weather improved by the second day. We spent the next day exploring Salou and both Beckie and Elizabeth had their hair braided.

Wednesday we spent another day at PortAventura. It was fantastic as we all went on rides and watched the Wild West show and the Tropical Bird show. They were both excellent.

The next day was spent shopping for presents and relaxing in our hotel complex. Andrew, Gary, Robert & Trevor played pool on the outdoor pool table. There was also a table soccer table and table tennis table outside. The boys didn’t have it all to themselves.....Elizabeth joined in the fun and gave them a run for their money.

Barcelona was one of the highlights of our stay. We took a coach ride and saw many of the lovely sights that Barcelona has to offer. We walked down the famous Ramblas and soaked up the atmosphere. We went to see Gaudi’s house and gardens and saw more of his influence on architecture including the beautiful cathedral. It is a fantastic city and we were able to view it from up high overlooking both the city and the port.

On our last day we went to the beach for lunch and then retreated around our swimming pool before getting ready for our final night at dinner followed by our usual night on the dance floor. The usual cocktails were ordered (non alcoholic) by both the ladies and the gents....so Delboy ish!!

Our flight home was made even more fun with the most amazingly entertaining captain. He really made us all laugh with his jokes, which relaxed everybody for the journey home.

Thanks to Elizabeth, Beckie, Trevor, Gary, Andrew & Robert for helping make our holiday so fun and enjoyable.

And we hope to see you all again soon...
