Warners (Sinah Warren)
The sun shone brightly as we spent the day at the seaside resort of Bognor Regis. We walked along the promenade taking in the wonderful sea views and pootled around the shops buying many gifts for ourselves, friends and family with lots of bargains bagged.
There were so many great activities for us to join in with. First up was the curling competition, which was a new experience for everyone. We had to concentrate and make sure we didn’t push the curl too hard or too softly in order for it to hit the target. We all had a great time.
We were in chocolate heaven as the stage was set for James Parsons, a renowned chocolatier. He gave us a fascinating talk and detailed demonstration on the art of chocolate making. Luckily for us he gave out lots of free samples too….yummy! James also recounted lots of captivating stories about working as a chef for the Royal Family at Clarence House.
Rifle shooting outside was on the agenda and all of us turned out to be very skilful sharpshooters!
We ambled over to the archery field where the instructors, Alice and Callum, gave us all clear instructions on how to use a bow and arrow. We all had great fun trying to be Robin Hood and everybody managed to hit the target after a few practice shots.
A great day was spent in Portsmouth at the historic Portsmouth Boatyard. Here, we were able to see HMS Victory and HMS Warrior. The size of the ships was vast and the detailed craftsmanship was staggering. We were fortunate to witness a film crew as they were using HMS Victory for a film about Napoleon being directed by Ridley Scott, no less!
