Lake
District Activity Centre
After we got kitted out in caving gear we entered the Yordas Cave, walking carefully through the entrance into
the massive chamber. There were some amazing features all around
us in the dark. Some of us squeezed through some challenging crevices and got soaked in the waterfall!
We then drove on to Kirby Lonsdale where we walked across the famous
Devil’s Bridge and ate ice cream in the sunshine.
After a delicious dinner our instructor Rex, played his guitar in the yurt and we all had
a great evening singing and dancing and toasting marshmallows in the log
burner.
Aboard our 2 sail boats we all took turns at steering and
controlling the sails. We were soon speeding across the lake. We moored up at
Miller ground for a picnic lunch by the side of the lake and watched the RAF
jets practising their low flying skills over the area.
We joined together pairs of candian canoes with poles and straps
before launching them into the water. We paddled to a beach where we picnicked
by the water's edge then paddled on to Claife heights where we moored up and
took a walk up to the viewing point. Here we had fantastic views across the
lake and the surrounding countryside.
On site at Bendrigg we got kitted out with harnesses and helmet before having fun on the zip wire and climbing wall. We were soon going down backwards and competing for the funniest
descent! As usual
the instructors were amazing and with their expert support we all managed to achieve special goals.
In the evening our instructor Rex took us to a local pub for a drink and we had a great time playing pool and a killer darts.
We were presented with certificates showing the
activities we had done and our individual commendations. Individuals overcame many challenges
and achieved much more than they thought possible. We all had an amazing time at Bendrigg!
