Twixmas on the Isle of Wight with Steve, Michaela, Isobel and Darren

Twixmas on the Isle of Wight

Our Christmas holiday had begun! The hotel had been decorated so beautifully with lots of  brightly coloured baubles and twinkly fairy lights. We got into the Christmas spirit by putting on our festive jumpers.

We were introduced to the Mexican Harrier Hawk, Barn Owl, Kestrel and the African Hooded Vulture which was a rare treat as this bird is now critically endangered. It was an amazing experience to be able to hold some of these birds too.

There were so many fun activities for us to try and we all had great fun at the Line Dancing lesson.  Here we were taught three different dance routines, which we perfected quite quickly. What a great performance by the JollyDays team.

It was Christmas Day! We all woke excitedly to see that Santa had been! We opened presents and were treated to a glass of Bucks Fizz at breakfast. We were then told that Santa was on his way to meet us. We eagerly awaited his arrival and before our very eyes Santa arrived….. in a fire engine. He greeted us with a big smile and we were all delighted to have our photo taken with him.

We pulled our Christmas crackers and party poppers before tucking into a delicious traditional turkey dinner complete with all the trimmings. The atmosphere in the dining room was amazing as everyone celebrated this special day.

As always, we danced the night away to the fantastic live shows that were performed by the brilliant entertainment team.

We all wanted to go and explore and blow away the cobwebs! We visited Carisbrooke Castle with its amazing views of the castle ruins. We also took the short ferry trip to Cowes admiring the beautiful coastal views.

An afternoon of festive quizzing, putting our knowledge to the test was a great fun. Lots of laughs were had in the Dicey Horse Racing game, where we got to be Jockeys and bet what horse would win. We narrowly missed out on winning the top prize.

We could not wait to compete against each other at the bowling alley. We had great fun, managing to get some fantastic scores and a few strikes. Everyone showed great sportsmanship and congratulated each other for their great effort.

We visited the Lifeboats centre at Bembridge.  We couldn't have timed this better as we were able to watch the lifeboat returning from sea from the visitors platform. An exciting experience for them all!

It was pantomime time and we couldn’t wait to join in with the booing and hissing at the baddies. We sat back. laughing and cheering at Aladdin and his magical lamp. We even treated ourselves to an ice cream in the interval.

It was New Years Eve! After a lovely meal we hit the dance floor for the last time. We sang along to the well- known songs from the well known musicals. We enjoyed music from the Bagpiper who blessed the haggis, something that we hadn’t seen before! The clock struck midnight, we were on the dance floor as Auld Lang Syne was playing and we popped our party poppers as we wished our friends a Happy New Year.
