Ski Austria - Novice & Intermediate with Derek, Jamie & Faye

Ski Austria - Novice & Intermediate

We were back in our favourite place- the picture postcard village of Russbach. With a fresh dusting of snow we quickly made our way to the slope to get kitted out and meet our ski instructors.

Like riding a bike, we soon remembered our turning and stopping technique and our teachers were very impressed with us.

After a day on the slopes there was nothing better than relaxing in the hotel bar before dinner.

Andy showed off his skills as he was taken down the red runs by Jamie. He worked hard on his parallel turns and traversing down the mountain, making it look easy!

David and Ben took the cable car up to the top of the slope and navigated the button lift so they could try out a new run. They both listened well to their instructor and followed his path, practising some different drills.

Lunch was enjoyed in one of our favourite spots which always had a lively and party like atmosphere. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating! One afternoon we were even treated to a traditional cheese fondu. It was heavenly!

It was another glorious morning and we were all raring to go. There was no better feeling than waking up to blue skies and a snowy backdrop.

Andy had a brilliant day, tackling more challenging slopes but like the superstar that he is he took on the challenge without hesitation. The boys had a day to remember, especially when Andy dropped his pole which Jamie managed to rescue!

Ben put smiles on our faces with his 100% positivity. He made so much progress in such a short amount of time and was really getting to grips with his long turns. David as always, looked super cool, coming down the slopes in true style. Next year he is keen to take on the Russbach red run!

Daniel was a brilliant teacher and took his time with each of the boys. We all loved him!

One evening we made our way to the next village to watch a night show ski spectacular. The 3 local ski school instructors put together a fabulous display, showing off their incredible skills. It took you back through the years, displaying a variety of old fashioned wooden skis and techniques. There were daredevil stunts from snowboarders flying and flipping through the air to fire breathers. The finale was sensational as fireworks lit up the night sky in array of different colours, all set in time to music. It was a real treat and we were delighted to have seen such a performance.

On our final evening we surprised the boys with a certificate and medal for their stilling efforts over the last few days. They were absolutely delighted!

The group had  made some special memories and friendships to last a lifetime. It's true to say it had been the best ski holiday ever!
