The Garden Island of Madeira with Nick, Ase & David

 The Garden Island of Madeira

Walks along the dramatic coastline revealed volcanic rock formations, crashing Atlantic waves, and breathtaking cliffside scenery. In Funchal, we wandered colourful streets and visited the vibrant Mercado dos Lavradores, rode a cable car above terracotta rooftops and tropical terraces, and admired sweeping views from Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Monte. Birthday celebrations, café stops, and even a special Cristiano Ronaldo shirt surprise added extra joy to the day.

Our island tour revealed Madeira’s natural beauty in all its variety. In Câmara de Lobos we saw colourful boats and the statue of Winston Churchill, who once painted there. We travelled through banana plantations and mountain roads to the dramatic north coast, where the volcanic pools of Porto Moniz roared with Atlantic waves. The highlight was standing on the glass platform at Cabo Girão, gazing 580 metres down at farmland and ocean stretching endlessly into the horizon.

Back at the resort, days blended relaxation and fun: spa-like swims, tennis tournaments, crazy golf challenges, wine tasting, and cheerful competitions.

A special catamaran cruise brought us face-to-face with dolphins and whales, while a peaceful visit to Sé Cathedral added a moment of quiet beauty.
